300 Block Main St. : Chapple and Young Block

In 1892, local businessmen William Chapple and Clayton Young combined efforts to create the first floor of the Chapple and Young Building at 316-318 Main. The second floor was commpleted in 1896, and features stunning examples of commercial Romanesque Revival architecture. Over the years, the 300 block has housed numerous other entities, including retail and grocery stores; taverns; banks; barber and hair salons; the town library; and a billiard hall.
